It was around 5:30 pm when Jonny Diaz took the stage at the En Gedi Music Festival. It was just him and his guitar on this massive stage. The visual of seeing this man simply playing his guitar and pouring his heart out to Jesus on this extravagant stage reminded me of humility. So often in our lives we are in circumstances or situations that seem far bigger than we can handle. Our response in those times needs to be us pouring our heart out to Jesus in humble submission to Him as we trust that He is in control. Jonny's set was nothing short of powerful. His music is very well written and it translated so well in a live setting (again just him and his guitar). Jonny made himself available after the show to meet with people and sign autographs, and he was even willing to chat for a min or two with us even after the festival was over to share some advice for up and coming artists (interview below). Doing those things is another picture of humility to me, he wasn't so "big" that he couldn't meet with people or so "untouchable" that he wouldn't share a word with us and speak to those of us who are seeking to make music to God and for a career. I loved this as it is not always the case.
If you haven't heard Jonny's music we want to strongly encourage you to do so. It's really well done and he was a really down to earth dude that loves Jesus and longs to reach people. There are a couple of his lyric videos below and links to his music. Also, even if you aren't a musician we would encourage you to check out what he had to say to us as it is important for whatever you do in life.
